See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? Hebrew 12:25

Have you ever stopped and realized how many warning signs we see every day? You go the grocery store, and you see the sign for a wet floor. You drive on the highway, and you will probably see several different warning signs. A blinking yellow traffic light tells you to proceed with caution. Some warning signs are easy to accept, like your cell phone has a low battery. A low-battery warning on a phone may be an aggravation, but we just charge it and go on without taking it personally.
The Bible gives us many examples of people who were warned by God, and the results were generally the same: Those who heeded God’s warnings fared well, and those who ignored God’s warnings did not. When God warns us, let’s not become resentful or defensive. He is not issuing a threat; He is waving a helpful caution flag. He knows if we continue along that path, things will not go well for us. He is a loving Father who wants the very best outcomes for us, so let’s heed all His warnings.
Let’s acknowledge God knows more than we do, and be grateful He helps us avoid destructive and diminishing paths.
