Turning the Enemies weapons

Writer's picture: Gary RupertGary Rupert

No weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper... Isaiah 54:17

Have you ever noticed how God delights in destroying the enemies of his people by turning the enemy's weapons against themselves? In Exodus 1, Pharaoh tries to drown the Israelite baby boys but in Exodus 14, God turns the tables and uses water to destroy the Egyptian army. In Judges 7, Gideon was able to destroy the Midianites with only 300 men by turning the enemies' own weapons against themselves.

In Genesis 3:15, we read that the serpent will be destroyed by attacking the heel of the seed of the woman and then that heel will crush him in that attack. And that illustrates what happened finally on the cross, where death is destroyed by death. Death attacks the Son of God and in the death of the Son of God, death itself is killed. The weapon of the enemy is turned against the enemy.
